Such an oxymoron. Do we really believe we can save daylight or time? I am at work in the emergency room, complaining about the fact that I am so unlucky to be working on the day/night that time is pushed back to supposedly provide an extra hour of sunlight to winter’s dark dawns. Of course, my issue is that I must work eleven hours on my shift instead of ten. I am lamenting the hour less that I shall get to sleep in my very cozy bed.
There are so many things wrong with the phrase anyway. Can one save daylight to use for some other time? If that were so, how many of us at the dusk of our lives would wish that instead of dividends on our savings that we could have heaped time like rolled hay bales, such that in sickness and in regret, we might roll up and graciously load up a year or two and enjoy now, what we did not/could not/would not savor in our youth?
I think that just like DST, we fool ourselves that we can put off living/loving/enjoying/helping/relaxing and putting aside TIME for special times and people until some appointed TIME in this fragile journey that we get to designate as the right TIME to make TIME to use our saved TIME and then we see there is no TIME and we are at the end of our TIME and TIME is up.
Boomer wisdom says that the TIME is now, to do that which you have been making plans to do. To chase after dreams and visions. Take trips across oceans and continents. Kiss friends and lovers. Hug your family folks and strangers. Laugh loud. Splash puddles. Sleep late. Jump into new adventures. LIVE.
Because unlike daylight savings time, you can not roll back the clock in this life, to recover not one millisecond that you have squandered in procrastination and fear.
Boomer wisdom says see you out on the playground.
Blessings to you all!
I’m coming out, slowly but surely. I hear ya,” Time” waits for no one. Devastating and near debilitating loss and grief can cause one to feel trapped in a Time warp (only existing in the past, the could have, would have, should have). Harnessing those cherished memories to be unleashed at the appointed precise moment, only to miss out on the precious valuable Time that is set before you, the Here & Now (The Present). Lord help me to use my Time wisely, to the fullest, before my Time is up.
Boomer wisdom is very encouraging and inspiring. Thank you D. BaileyWynne
