Good to be Great

Today I got an email from one of my previous employees. He was telling  me about the new job he has and the company car that came along with it, in addition to the large pay raise. Now, this all sounds wonderful, but, if you knew what I know about this guy, you would have never guessed that a future like this was even possible.

Oh, he was smart and learned, with an expensive degree behind his name. But, he also was rarely on time for work, usually only did the very minimum in completing tasks, felt himself to be better than other staff members less educated and bristled any time he was counseled about his less than desirable work habits. So it is not surprising that he was shown the door not long after my arrival as manager. What was surprising to him was that he lost his job after being at the same company for years.

Sometimes, in order for you to excel, there needs to be a correction. A correction in your attitude, altitude, location, specification, education. An abrupt change. And, sometimes that change comes suddenly.  Sometimes, it’s a change you are secretly hoping for. Maybe, you are fired, and it’s deserved. You are let go, and it’s unfair. The company closes or it sends its operations overseas. Perhaps, the department is outsourced. In any event, an opportunity is now presented for you to show that in the midst of adversity, you can rise above the situation. The chance for you to be all you can be is upon you.

Boomer Wisdom says that even if you are the cause of your calamity, there can still be greatness in your future. There is a Chinese parable that says, “fall down seven, get up eight”. Don’t give up. As long as there is life, there is hope. I believe in you. There is someone wanting and needing to hear about your story and your success.

Blessings to you!

Wow! This was an anointed message for me. The Lord is calling me to an uncomfortable place today. I really mean right now, and then I was given this blog to read. I thank you for sharing! I do believe your message is a call from God, to the children of God.
